DUTERIMBERE ONG staff together with beneficiaries in Nyagatare District celebrates after receiving an award as the Best and Overall Exhibitor during the District Open Day event that took place in Nyagatare District playground from 19th to 21st June 2019. An Open Day is an accountability platform where as an Organisation through our beneficiaries, we showcase the results of activities that have been implemented as indicated in the periodic action plans that are submitted to the District through Joint Action District forum.
Since 2017, Duterimbere ONG in partnership with Trocaire is implementing a project titled “Women Economic Empowerment for effective participation in decision making in rural areas of Rwanda Project”. The project is implemented in Rulindo and Gakenke Districts to support vulnerable groups with majority women from the first and second categories of the poverty index.
In order to monitor the achievements/impact of the project,
DUTERIMBERE ONG supports her beneficiaries in Gakenke District to participate in the open Day event where they show case the income generating activities they do and how this has impacted on them on economic empowerment and their active involvement in contributing to improved livelihoods at Household, Community and National levels.

The organization which was founded in 1987 with 29 women who wanted to add value to women activities by demonstrating their roles and capabilities in development is now empowering women grouped in various cooperatives which ICYEREKEZO Cooperative of Nyamabuye,
Women cooperatives in the Districts of Muhanga, Nyamagabe, Gakenke, and Rulindo supported with the model nurseries to promote their income generating activity of seed multiplication. The fruit and vegetable seeds are produced and sold to farmers who initially had challenges of accessing quality and reliable seeds in the Country. This support is in partnership with Oxfam.
