Pineapple cooperative farmers in Gahara sector of Kirehe District are linked to a Processing enterprise (Tuzamurane coop) for market of their fresh pineapples. These farmers have been facilitated in the organic farming practices to allow the enterprise access international markets where it sells her dried pineapples. The same initiative is being made with pineapple farmers in Mukama and sectors in
Duterimbere ONG in partnership with Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion (MIGEPROF) trained over 750 women from the Districts of Huye, Rubavu and Kicukiro in the field of enterprenuership and financial literacy. These women are to be linked to BDF through micro finance institution for financial services.
A beneficiary in Nyarusange sector Muhanga District show some harvest of Mushrooms that grow in their pineapple garden. This cooperative has also acquired a 250 m3 water ponder which will facilitate them in irrigating their field during the dry season so as to ensure continued farming activities. This is under the climate resilience and food security project supported by Oxfam German and BMZ.
