Supporting a Family to Rebuild and Thrive After a Devastating Loss

Mr. Sinjyenibo Phenias, from Ruganda Sector, Karongi District, lost his wife and a new born baby in February 2020 following what was reported as clinical negligence at Biguhu Health Centre. The loss left the family facing significant emotional and socio-economic challenges. Duterimbere, in partnership with Karongi District, has supported Mr. Phenias and his family to strengthen their resilience and improve their living conditions. His house was retrofitted with a complete package to provide a safer and more dignified home, while the family also received a cow from Karongi District to support their livelihood and strengthen household income opportunities.
